Part Two "Organizing 1-2-3 FREE Mini-eCourse"

“Overcoming being Dis-organized: Practical advice for De-cluttered spaces and Organized daily living”

TODAY, we are continuing our discussion on OVERCOMING BEING DIS-ORGANIZED, and more strategies you may want to implement to cope better, while working on getting rid of the CLUTTER once and for all. You need your family’s support to maintain your new organizing systems once you have conquered the clutter.

Learning and practicing better communication skills is a wonderful way to reconnect to your family and heal relationships that may have been damaged. Three basic skills are invaluable and critical to enabling families to function properly on all levels:

  •         The ability to listen to and hear each other respectfully without interruptions
  •         Respecting each other’s individuality and right to own opinions
  •         The ability to distinguish behaviors from persons so that undesired behavior may be rejected but never the person (Asking the person to change behavior rather than judging or blaming him or her personally)

Suffering as result of being disorganized is a most personal, intimate and emotionally painful matter that affects one’s self-image, so one tends to focus on one’s imperfections and shortcomings and starts to question one’s self-worth. If you are discouraged and feel as if your whole life is disintegrating under the weight of this problem, then the Organizing 1-2-3 eBook is for you!

Anxiousness and irritability often results, as well as secrecy, shame and withdrawal, as the individual realizes that his or her behavior is not desirable or understandable to others, so social events are avoided. People that continue to live in cluttered, messy conditions may even experience depression.

We have to learn how the inner drive mechanisms work and, more importantly, how to change things - only then will we have the knowledge and power to overcome the natural setbacks that may occur and gradually start to control the compulsion to procrastinate and aggravate the situation further.

Disorganized people deal with their embarrassment and emotional pain in different ways, like avoidance of other people, hiding, denying, over compensation or costly interventions just to get rid of the nightmare.

Are you there too?

Using Lists to Increase Household Efficiency

Checklists are useful resources when getting organized in the house. Most of us make a grocery list before we go to the store, why not make a list for important things we want to organize in life? The more checklists that you make, the more proficient you will get at it. Listed below are some general ideas for checklists.

"To Do" checklist for everyday. Start your day by making a list of all the things that you need to accomplish each day. Carry your list along with you and check each item off when completed. This will create great feelings of positive reinforcement, motivation and accomplishment.

Develop a routine household maintenance list for tasks that need to get done monthly. For example, change the central filter for your air unit in the home, etc. You can get into the habit of checking the list a few months in advance to see if you need to schedule maintenance professionals to do certain jobs for you.

Make a weekly cleaning list and hang it on the wall or central command center for everyone to see. Beside each job write the person's name that is responsible for the job that week. Make sure they check off the job on the list when completed.

Create a car maintenance checklist. Schedule specific times when you need to make appointments for routine or special car maintenance.

Writing checklists for your life may help reduce stress in the long run. It will be easier to assign jobs to other people in your household. You can create and store your checklists on your computer and print them out as needed. Also, you can make a special binder for all of your checklists. Once you start making checklists, you will wonder how you ever got along without them!

Helpful Tips to Get Organized and Stay Organized

Getting organized doesn't have to be a boring chore. Listed below are easy steps you can initiate right now that will start you on your way to becoming organized.

Begin with the clutter that you routinely see every day at your house. For example, organize your kitchen and family room before your decide to organize your hallway closet. Once you see how nice your results look, you will be motivated to work on the hidden areas throughout your home, such as closets, cabinets and drawers.

Give everything in your home a special place of its own. Find the proper home for all of your items. Then, your family will know exactly where to find them and where to put the items away each time they use them. For example, you can create one defined place in your house for storing library books. This will make it easy to find them when it is time to read or return them.

Hang hooks for your keys and purse inside the entryway to your home, so each time you walk in, you can hang up your keys.

Set aside one basket for each family member for items they frequently bring in and out of the house, such as homework, school books or book bags.

Designate a specific basket on your desk or command center for incoming mail, bills, receipts and letters. This way everyone will know where these important items are when needed. You may want to have a shredder nearby, so you can shred appropriate items for security reasons while sorting through your mail everyday.

You may want to get rid of certain items in your house that you do not need or want anymore. For example, coupons that may have expired or magazines you might not get around to reading. All these material things take away from the space you could be using for items you actually do need and use on a regular basis.

Use drawer dividers when organizing junk drawers or silverware drawers with tiny items to keep them separated and organized. This works well for both dresser drawers and office supplies too.

You will find that when you are organized, you are less likely to forget appointments and birthdays. Remember to keep up with your daily/weekly/monthly cleaning schedule and you will find it easy to maintain your organized house. An organized house can give you peace of mind!

Simple Steps to Getting Organized

You can definitely increase your everyday productivity by simply organizing your belongings around your home and office. There are helpful tools to guide you along when are beginning your challenge to organize your life and successfully accomplish your individual goals.

First of all, create a workable plan and set realistic goals for yourself, so you don't feel overwhelmed. Set specific short-term and long-term goals that are well-defined. For instance, your long-term goal could be getting your complete home organized during the set time period of one year. A short-term goal could be getting one specific room organized in one month.

After you have your individual goals in mind, don't forget to write them down on paper. It may be helpful to put that paper in a place where you can view it often throughout the day. This may prove to be a motivating reinforcement to help you stay on a positive track to complete your plan. Also, I would like to emphasize the importance of determining why you want something.

You need to know why you have the desire to get your life organized. While these easy tips may seem simple, it is surprising to realize that many people set out to achieve something of importance without knowing the real reason why. The simplest and most motivating force to achieving your goals is knowing where you are going and why you are going in that direction. Follow these simple tips, and you will organize your life faster than you ever dreamed possible!

5 Tips to Increase Your Productivity

1. Avoid interruptions, if possible. This is easier said than done. Maybe, you might decide to leave your phone on voice mail during specific times you are scheduled to work on important projects. If you have a private office, close your door for a more quiet, peaceful environment. If by chance you are interrupted, keep the interruption short by remaining task-oriented.

2. Schedule specific intervals during the day to routinely check and return any phone messages or emails. When you leave phone messages, list the exact times that you will be available to be reached by phone. Ask the other person to do the same thing. This will save you a great deal of time in the long run because you won't need to play phone tag.

3. Plan scheduled stress breaks throughout your day. Make sure you allow yourself a little time for relaxation. Working to the point of muscle tension or exhaustion will not be productive. Take short periodic breaks throughout your day, if possible. Stretch your legs, take some relaxing deep breaths, or enjoy a peaceful lunch break. These little breaks can be motivating rewards for when you've finished particular tasks. A little positive motivation can go a long way to increase productivity and work performance!

4. Getting organized should not be a chore, it should make you feel good about yourself. Appreciate your own individual style and accomplishments. We all have a variety of organizational styles. Keep in mind that you have achieved your successes today because of who you are and what you have accomplished. Take positive action and improve your organizational skills to enhance your unique lifestyle, not hamper it.

5. Remain focused on your plan. Don't fall prey to procrastination. Once you develop a good plan for accomplishing a task, stay with it. Find the best organizing methods that work for you and apply these organizing systems to future projects for great success!

Learning Good Organizational Skills Can Increase Your Self-Esteem

Do you feel good about yourself and your home environment? How well organized are you at home everyday?

Many people that feel well organized, often times, feel rather good about themselves in general and have positive self-esteem.

However, on the other hand, if you are the type of person who is reading self-help books, listening to audio personal improvement programs, or attending seminars on personal development and self-esteem, then chances are you're caught up in an evolving circle.

You may try to brush up on your personal development skills, and then you temporarily feel better about yourself and you get on with your life, but the disorganization and chaos in your life catches up with you. So, you go back to researching the subjects of personal development and organization again.

Often times, self-esteem and personal organization go hand in hand. By emotionally getting involved with taking extra control of your environment at work and home you will begin to feel proud of your surroundings and gain confidence by getting organized.

Many positive emotions can come from getting organized. Self- esteem and organization create self-supporting positive feedback. You may find when you successfully complete one organizing project, you will gain motivation and momentum to continue with your efforts to produce more good results!
